INTERCESSION

In Romans 8:26 it states," In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 8:27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

During her life, Theresa wasn't able to attend school on a full time basis. Some years she could only attend half of the school session, and some others, a third of the session. Her illness afflicted her most all the time, making it very difficult to concentrate on school as the pain was very excruciating and constant. This debilitation began when she was a small child, and worsened as she got older. She had been to countless Doctors and hospitals during her life, and they could only do so much for her. Everything else was left in the hands of God, and we knew that very intimately,  and she knew it as well. But she was never deterred in her prayer.

From as far back as I can remember as a small child, we prayed the rosary nightly. Not only did we pray the rosary at home, but I have fond memories at school as well. I remember all the times that Sister Philathea broadcasted over the intercom into all the classrooms at Saint Francis Cabrini every morning.

I realize now that praying was the right thing to do. I remember all of the times that Theresa would offer up her pain to God in her prayers. It was the only thing that she had to offer up to Him. It was the only thing that sustained her spirit during her most painful tribulations. She would ask Him to give her the ability to sustain the pain, to tolerate it and this was her gift to Him.

I urge you to pray to Theresa for her intercession, especially during the most painful or debilitating moments in your life, or for those near you that cannot pray for themselves. Offer your prayers through Theresa's intercession. It is the one single most important gift that you can give of yourself.

The most enduring trait that I will always remember about my sister is that she had never given up hope, even in the darkest moments of her life. She sustained her soul by maintaining her faith and always realizing that God heard her every prayer, no matter how softly she had asked.

Theresa and friends at the Leesville Lion's Camp-1966

Dear Betty, Chris, John Heidi and Greg,

Thanks a million for taking me to Glenmora to see maw maw and papa, and to see Helen and Buddy about a place to rest while in Baton Rouge.
Ken and I really enjoyed them and their lovely home and gorgeous trees and peace and quiet. T'was nice to meet Clyde and his son too.
I am sending you a little remembrance of " Our Little Saint Theresa of America."
'Lest we forget.' No, we never could. She left a lasting impression for good on all of us!!!

May God love and bless each one of you always.
Love and many prayers,

Sister "Chris" Howard

Dear Mrs. Ream,
I was shocked and very sad to hear of Theresa's death. I know it is a relief for you because it is hard for a mother to see her child suffering so much. I have no doubt as I said on the card that Theresa is in heaven now and went right up after she left us because she suffered so much in this world.
I can just see the joy and beautiful smile on her face as she met the Father, her heavenly Father she grew to know and love through you and your children's example to her.

Sister Philothea told me she got to see her Dad before she died too and I am so glad that God granted her this favor.
She was a very special child and sister to all of you as well as to God, and I know now that through her prayers and intercessions for you all, you will receive many graces and blessings. Don't fail to ask her either and you know she will ask her Father for anything for all of you because you were the dearest people in this world to Theresa.

You and your family are in my prayers and if there is anything I can do please don't hesitate to ask me. If I get to Alexandria, I'll be sure and call.

God bless you,
Sister Francini
